King to Queen Rosary Run: Devotion in Motion
The Rosary Run isn't just for athletes. It's a special event that draws in participants who are willing to cheer and want to show their devotion on this very special feast day of Our Lady of Victories.
St. Joseph Evangelization Network "Icon Alley"
The most unique and special feature along our course is Icon Alley, sponsored this year by our friends at St. Joseph Evangelization Network (St. Joseph Radio) in St. Charles. We have placed this zone at the corner of Chouteau and 3rd, under the viaduct. Icon Alley brings beauty and light into an area that isn't beautiful and not inspiring. So what is Icon Alley?
Icon Alley is the zone where we encourage devoted and prayerful spectators to bring their favorite image of Mary, whether that be an icon, a photo, a statue, or just a book to hold up. At this location, we are planning to have a choir singing (TBD) as well. The runners and walkers will see Icon Alley twice, first as they turn south on 3rd Street, and again when they return heading towards the finish line.
Then around 9:30 am, just as the last few walkers are entering the finish line, a Bag Piper, the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard from the Bishop's Council 10490, a Knight of Malta, and a representative of the Parish Council will lead these faithful and a four foot tall statue of Our Lady of Victories and Jesus on a platform (carried by our faithful altar servers) into the finish line. Music will be playing. People will be praying the Rosary and cheering. Flowers will be available to toss onto the platform. We expect this to be a truly memorable experience for all who participate.
Joyful Mystery Kilometer Markers
Each kilometer will be marked with an A-Frame sign with a picture and bible verse for the 5 Joyful Mysteries. The logo of one of our major sponsors will be proudly displayed on the back of each marker. Thank you to Drury Hotels, SSM Healthcare, the Hungarian-American Educational Partnership, Order of Preachers - St. Albert the Great Province, and Field's Foods.
The Annunciation - The Archangel Gabriel announces to Mary that she is to become the mother of the savior. Hail Mary, full of Grace...
The Visitation - Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth who says, "Who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me..." and "... blessed are you among women..."
The Nativity - Jesus is born in Bethlehem.
The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple - Mary and Joseph present Jesus in the Temple where Nicodemus tells Mary that her heart too would be pierced by the sword so that the thoughts of many may be laid bare...
The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple - Mary and Joseph, after missing Jesus in the caravan, find him teaching the elders in the Temple. Jesus said, "Didn't you know I had to be about my Father's business?"
As noted on the course map below, there will be three other "progress" zones the runners will encounter. Participants are welcome to stand and cheer at these locations as well. See our map below.
